Diary from Exile - Iraqis share their thoughts & experiences as refugees
About one month ago someone phoned me in
the morning...He told me that I should go to one
of the lazaretto (stores) to receive my portion of
food relief ...I asked him how he chose my family
to give us this since I didn't ask any
organization to assist us?...He said that the list
of names came from UNHCR.  I went to this place
and took my husband's brother with me.to see
this view...many Iraqi's families were standing
for more than 2 hours in front of the opening of
the big door, waiting for some food as
beggars...i was one of these families.

I was remembering our lives in Iraq when I was
as the princess and now, I feel that every
person waiting for  food is a copy of me. .for this
reason, I sent you these photos to show the
world the suffering of the Iraqi families who had
one of the richest countries in the world...

If you are Iraqi who has had to leave your home in Iraq, we welcome
you to send us photos and your thoughts about your experience to
share here with others.

We offer this page as a way for Iraqis to let people in the west see
the very real human cost that the "numbers" and statistics
represent.

Greeting,

I'm Iraqi girl 28 years old live in Amman now.i want to send letter to
people who work in UNHCR -IOM -and State dep.We are going
through hard times we forced to leave our country ,family, jobs and
came here to get help ,so they should have mercy in their hearts
and think about how hard for us to live here without residency
and jobs. so when we call them to ask about our case they
shouldnt answer "we are not travel agency".

We know they are not but also we know they get paid to do that
job which is helping people in smooth way so before they hire
such kinds of employees they should check if they are qualified to
do human works.

Its too hard on us when we got treated like beggars and when we
have to wait for long time or when we ask for help and they say"
be patient" its ok we will be patient but how would we live !!!! who
will pay for our food and rent?work under table ?we tried it with
no work permit but what if your employer tried to take advantage
of you?you can continue working?

Those people who work in these organizations should think twice
about how hard its for us to live there before they answer ,and Im
sure they cant wait for their weekend  to get tan on beach and
also they cant skip lunch time and gossip with their coworkers...

...few days ago i was surfing the net and there was website about
iraqi dogs, they ask people to donate to help that dog,i really felt
jealous from that dog because Im living here and going through
hard times but who cares.anyway

Regards
D
