Rescuing refugees from hunger is the bedrock of the Emergency Assistance Program. Refugees in Jordan are forbidden by law to work, so food security is crucial—and always at the top of their minds. The families served by the program live in dire poverty and, without CRP’s monthly food vouchers, they would have to beg for food or go without. While other organizations give one-time food supplies such as rice and lentils, our program gives refugee families the flexibility to purchase what they need. They come once a month to pick up their vouchers, which they use to purchase groceries and fresh produce at a local supermarket.
A careful assessment is made of individuals and families to ensure those who truly need are assisted. Every effort is made to help those in need but the numbers are truly daunting. With your help, we are working hard to expand this program to better serve the needs of our growing community.
