Last week, the members of the Hope Workshop held their first meeting to discuss details of their upcoming advocacy quilting project.
The goal of the project is to create embroidered squares, which, in partnership with The Advocacy Project, will be assembled into two quilts for sale and exhibition in the United States. The embroidered squares will feature personal moments and memories of the women in the Workshop, and will highlight their experiences as refugees fleeing to, then living in, Amman.
The women are motivated and excited to get started on the project, which will begin after the Eid. In the meantime, they are busy drafting and designing their squares. Once the designs are finalized and perfected, the embroidering will begin!
The creativity and motivation present at the first meeting is a promising start for what we hope will become an annual project in collaboration with The Advocacy Project. Please follow this page for more updates as the project continues!
