Though the month of Ramadan is wrapping up, CRP’s distributions continue to support our community. Ramadan is a time for family, celebration, and giving and CRP’s distributions during the month reflected the spirit of the holiday!
Beyond the regular monthly food voucher distribution, CRP also had three extra food voucher distributions over Ramadan. These extra food vouchers benefit families beyond our monthly program, making sure that we support as many needy families as possible.
Abu Yousif, CRP’s program manager, oversaw the distributions throughout Ramadan.
“We helped a lot of people. We could reach many people we didn’t reach before,” he said, reflecting on the month. “We specialized in food because this is the most important thing to give them.” On top of the 195 family food vouchers distributed, CRP also distributed over 260 food bags, 78 fans and 61 bags filled with cleaning and personal hygiene items. Because refugees are forbidden to work in Jordan, they have no reliable way to access food and the basic needs items they need to get by.
Food donations increase during the month of Ramadan, particularly from Muslim families who want to celebrate the month by giving, but the families who receive the food come from many religions, backgrounds, and circumstances. “CRP was preparing for this months ago. There’s something about this month; people were expecting to give,” added Abu Yousif. Thanks to your continued support, CRP is able to get food and basic needs items to those who need it most.
